Yes it is me - finally posting! I have my craft room up and running and am even working on some new projects which I hope to begin posting in the next few days. I do not want to share pictures of my craft room until it is more completed but until then I will share a few ideas. My biggest problem is STORAGE right now. I really always hated spending money on storage because I thought hey, that $$ could go for NEW CRAFT STUFF! Anyone else think this way? Well I have come to a hard realization - I can't GET to my stuff anymore to work. I spend so much time SEARCHING that I get tired and give up. Now that I finally have a room to call my own I plan on really getting organized. As I do, I will share ideas with you and hopefully you can give me some ideas too as this is all new to me.
An awesome source for craft room ideas can be found at the Crafty Storage Blog. It has tons of pictures of craft rooms and ideas for organization. You can also do a search at TwoPeas or SCS fusing the words craft rooms, storage or organization.
Today's picture actually came from a makeup board's (MUA) organization tips. Makeup organization is very similar to craft room organization - lots of small things that you want easily accessible and within view. To hold my pencils I bought a 16" long oval glass container and filled it with small clear plastic beads (ColorFill brand) and larger decorative glass stones (all bought at Michael's in the flower section). I saw a makeup collector store her MAC makeup brushes this way and loved it - I plan to do this with my brushes too!
The beads hold up your pencils and keep them within easy reach. It is also so pretty to look at. It is like a pencil garden :)
I chose green and iridescent white stones as my craft room is painted a celery color with white trim, and my shelves are all white. I purchased two bags of plastic beads and used 1 1/2 bags to fill this but I would only use one bag if I did it again because as I added my pencils it filled the container up even more.
You will be seeing a lot of makeup storage pieces as I post how I get organized. Another great resource for ideas can be found at the organizeit-online.com store. While they sell items, they also have a blog and tips to read. I think they ship internationally but have no idea of cost.
Thanks for stopping by and happy Saturday :)
