Cards that Party ~ Happy Birthday Lizzie Anne Designs!
There is such a great story behind Lizzie Anne Designs: two best friends from high school, Tricia (Lizzie) and Meredith (Anne) love stamping so much they form their own stamp company, and it takes off! LAD is now turning two and to celebrate they are having a big bash over at their forum today from 5-7 pm PST. I joined in the fun and made a few cards for their sketch contest to win ALL THE NEW RELEASES. Could you imagine? What a prize!
It's a Party Card
Here is the first! Last week in this post (which contains one of my all time personal favorite cards) I mentioned that In the Treetop had so many uses: yep, the balloons you see here are the treetop shapes! I have a bunch more uses for these great shapes but that is for another post :D
I stamped the tree shapes out with chalk inks and propped them up on foam dots with embroidery thread ties and a red ribbon bow. Voila we have balloons!
The confetti background was made with the snowflake and wind swirl stamp from the same set.
The sentiment, from Shapes and Stitches, was stamped over and over onto BasicGrey solid yellow paper from the Cupcake collection.
Huggy Birthday Card
This romantic birthday card would be perfect to give to your DH (Dear Husband, or Dear Heart). I created a background with the XOXO stamp from the L'amour set, then made my own little tableau with flourishes and heart butterflies. The patterned paper is Cosmo Cricket's Honey Pie.
I colored everything with Copic markers, added some Spica Clear glitter pen for shimmer, then added a raised, shiny look with Papier Glass Finish (like Crystal Effects).
The wavy sentiment is from the Birthday Flowers stamp - I used a water based Tombow marker to only ink up the stem of one flower of the stamp. The You heart was stamped on vellum and placed over a pink heart.
The butterfly bodies were sponged with chalk ink (VersaMagic Pink Grapefruit) to perfectly match the stamped out pink heart.
Ribbon Card
This card looks the simplest but it took the longest to make - isn't that always how it goes? I alternated stamped faux ribbon strips from Shapes and Stitches with real May Arts and BasicGrey ribbon. The flowers are two toned because I stamped them in pink then edged them with purple chalk ink.
The panel is on a mat of shimmery, metallic yellow. The pink paper is BasicGrey from the Gypsy collection. There is some Stampin' Up! Soft Sky in there, and the purple cardstock is Bazzill Bling.
I really struggled with this sketch and ended up flipping it on this card. This card was my second try. The sketch had a lot of negative space and I wasn't sure what to do with it.
The main image is so ornate that anything I added to the card made it go over the top. What to do, what to do.
I had several versions and decided I liked this version with fabric green and white flowers topped with a flower button brad the best. There is a bit of May Arts sheer purple ribbon scrap peeking out.
I am definitely in a purple phase lately! Love it. Even when it comes to makeup I am going purple (well not too crazy- just to line around the base of my eyes). What color are you really into? Would love to know.
