Here it is, today's House Mouse & Friends Challenge! Today's challenge is using embossing in any form on your card. This challenge will run for the next two weeks as we know everyone is busy with the holidays. There is also a House Mouse stamp up for grabs to the winner! This card was so difficult to photograph because of all the shimmer and shine on it! In order to see just what is going on with the card I will have to show you a few different pictures :)
The largest panel is Stampin' Up!'s Bella Toile background stamp, which I embossed with Stampendous Detail Silver embossing powder and edged with a Silver Leafing Pen by Krylon. I also embossed the Stampin' Up! sentiment from the hostess set Best Yet. The next layer is really mirror cardstock that is so hard to photograph! Trust me - it is good stuff :) The top panel, which is the Funny Face image, is the first House Mouse stamp I ever owned, and one of my favorites.
I colored the image with Copics and then painted over the marker with Shimmerz paints that are currently on sale at TheRubberCafe.comfor $3.24 a jar! Orders over $40 get free shipping to boot when you use coupon code HOHOHO :) The sale and free shipping end December 23rd. The mouse on the left was painted with Limited Edition Spiced Cider and Coffee, which are more opaque than most Shimmerz. The mouse on the right was painted with Candle Light, one of my favorites, which is super sheer and adds more shimmer than color. It really allows the Copic shade work I do to show through. The tree was painted with Evergreen.
I painted the ornament in Rustic Red, allowed it to dry (literally like 2 minutes - I love how fast this paint dries!) and then applied Crystal Effects over the ornament for a raised, shiny glass appearance. The shimmer shows right through.
Final embellishments include May Arts satin red ribbon and a Prima Center Kisses flower crystal.
Thanks for stopping by! Be sure to check out what the other design team members have done over at the HM&F challenge blog, and be sure to play in the challenge if you can squeeze in some time as the holidays draw near :)
My Magnolia Candy Cane Tin and other projects will have to be posted tomorrow as Typepad has given me so much grief (this is the fourth time I have typed this post arg). Please see below for a fun Christmas craft project and a couple of Christmas brunch recipes as I posted a lot today :) We are having a terrible winter storm up here.I will leave you with one final picture of our poor frozen wreath.
Thank you for taking a bit of that precious time to spend it here with me! Stay warm, and drive safely out there!
