Hello and Happy New Year! Today's new year brings our second Magnolia-Licious Sketch Challenge! Each month, a Magnolia-Licious Design Team member will create a sketch for you to try. This month was my turn.
I love this nesting circles sketch and I hope you like it as well. While I do use Nestabilities die cuts, you can use punches, a Coluzzle, or even trace and cut glass or measuring cups just as easily. Feel free to adjust which circle is on top of which - this is for inspiration and meant to be fun, so go with whatever you like.
I wanted fresh, non-traditional colors for my New Year card. The base of the card is Stampin' Up! Pink Pirouette with matting of Soft Sky (retired) and Basic Gray textured cardstocks. Bazzill textured white cardstock provides the backdrop for the images. The sentiment is from the Holidays & Wishes set by Stampin' Up! I edged the two smaller circles with a Krylon Silver Leafing Pen.
I colored the Kissing Tilda and Kissing Edwin stamps with Copics and mounted them on pop dots against mirror cardstock that has a wonderful shine. I just noticed it mirrors the back of Edwin's head - whoops I should have colored his hair too! Oh well. The Clock stamp has separate hands so you can adjust the time to your needs. I embossed the clock with Antique Gold EP, then outlined it with shades of blue Copic markers. The center of the clock is a pink Swarovski crystal. I added a few of those here and there on the card - costly confetti :)
The Magnolia New Year Collection is available at Magnolia-Licious - but do not think these cuties are only good for New Years!
One of the reasons I love Magnolia Stamps so much is that they can be used for so many reasons and most are not tied down to a season or holiday. I plan to use the clock for birthdays, retirements, anniversaries, and the kissing couple is perfect for cutesy wedding cards and Valentine's Day. The collection also has the cutest champagne glass which I plan to use for any celebration.
