Hello and Happy Old Christmas :) I thought this quaint image, Rocking Gnome With List, a new release from Odd Bird Planet, would be perfect for Old Christmas. His hat is very old world European to me - then again Allan asked why I had a stamp of a pope knitting. MEN! More on Old Christmas below after the card details. As a former Anthropology student, I am always fascinated with this stuff, but realize not everyone else is :)
Card Details:
This is a pretty straight forward card: I colored the Rocking Gnome With List image with the Copics you see above. The base of the card is the fabulous and sadly retired Stampin' Up! True Thyme, a perfect match with the BasicGrey Wassail patterned paper sponged a bit with Distress Ink in Aged Mahogony.
The velvet flourish gold flower is by Prima while I think the other is by Imaginisce but I am not sure. The buttons are BasicGrey Wassail- I just love BasicGrey buttons and wish they came in bigger packs! I could roll in them.
Old Christmas
Old Christmas is what we call today here in Newfoundland, it is also known as the Epiphany and is based upon the old Julian calendar. I am new to this area and am learning, but here is what I have been told: Twelve days after Christmas Day, the birth of Christ, is January 6, the Day of Epiphany. It was upon this night that the Three Wise Men came to Bethlehem to look upon the baby Jesus. The Twelfth Day of Christmas is the commemoration of the day. This day is considered Christmas according to many Orthodox Christians and also to many of the Irish and Scots descendants living here. I now know why people put up their tree so late here! We had the hardest time even finding a lot to buy a tree because most people put their tree up late on the 24th. If you would like to know more about Old Christmas here is a great link.
A Personal Woo Hoo!
I got a wonderful Christmas present yesterday - I found out I will be published for the first time. This has been a personal goal and I am so happy - there are no words. Two of my cards will be in CardMaker Magazine. It will be a while though :)
Thank you once again for stopping by!

Suzy, I love your Old Christmas card! I love the colors you used and the DP goes so well. Congrats on being published!! That's fabulous and I know you're excited. If I ever get up to 10 followers to my blog I'll be excited. But, Rome wasn't built in a day, and I have to remember that stamping was initially my plan to make sure I always had a card ready, and I've added so much more. I'm not complaining at all. Congrats again.
