Today's card is rather different for me in terms of color scheme and also design, but I do like it :) It was created for the Sweet 'n Sassy Release Party Challenge. If you are reading this on Friday night before midnight EST I hope you will join us in our forum. We will be doing challenges, giving away more stamp sets and having lots of fun. If you are reading this later, that's okay ~ you have until January 9th to participate in the challenges.
The party begins at 9pm EST; my challenge begins at 9:30 PM and involves Paper Tole (stamping an image 3 or more times and layering it for a 3D look). If you know me, you know I love my layers! I began layering images when I first started stamping as a way to make a "wow" card without expensive embellishments, which I did not then own. I just love the multidimensional look - it really brings an image to life.
I stamped the roses in a vase image from the newly released Love Blooms set 4 times onto white cardstock with black Memento Ink, then colored each layer with the Copic markers you see above, only coloring the ones I wanted to use and cut out. The largest rose has a total of 4 layers, the others have between one and three. I added some Crystal Effects to the vase too.
If you notice, I put a spin on the layering and used my Curve & Pop Method, which means I shaped the paper, used foam and sticky glue dots of different thicknesses, and shaped how they were adhered. I did a tutorial on Curve and Pop *here*.
Even Allan noticed that my color scheme is quite different: pinks and yellow with blue (Soft Sky), green (Kiwi Kiss) and orange (a Tangerine Tango shade). I really like it though! The patterned paper is from the Pink Paislee Sweet Cakes Collection; I thought it would make a wonderful "frame" for my flowers.
Underneath that is Stampin' Up!'s Kiwi Kiss and Soft Sky(retired, Baja Breeze would have worked too) textured cardstocks. I added a bit of ribbon and blue Swarovski crystals. Inside the card is a sentiment from the Love Blooms set.
Play Along!
If you would like to participate in the challenge, make a card with an image of at least 3 layers, then upload your card to the SCS gallery using keyword SNSTC1209 by Friday January 9th at 11am EST. Cut and paste the keyword so your card doesn't get lost :) Anyone can play. We would like you to use Sweet N' Sassy Stamps, if you have them. However, if you don't feel free to play, anyway!
I will draw a winner on the 9th and post the winner's name on the Sweet 'n Sassy Forum and blog, as well as my blog. The winner will receive a Love Blooms stamp set. There will be two other challenges at 10:30 and 11:30 pm EST, followed by the seven new sets being available online at midnight! Have fun, and good luck to all!
Thanks for stoppin' by!
