Update: Anne Yeh is the winner of the challenge! Thank you to all who entered. The grand prize winners will be announced on the OBP blog so keep an eye there - anyone who entered before the deadline has been entered into that drawing too :)
Hello and happy Earth Day!
To celebrate Earth Day, Odd Bird Planet is having a full day of challenges from 6am PDT - Midnight (Pacific Daylight Time, to see what that is in your part of the world click *here*). I am kicking off the challenges with a Brown Paper Bag Challenge!
To Participate: make a card or other paper crafts project that uses some brown paper bags you have laying around (i.e. grocery store bags, lunch bags, anything that re-uses some household brown paper).
My Card Details: I cut up an old brown paper lunch bag, crinkled it up by rolling it into a ball, unfolded it, and ran my Creamy Caramel Ink (by Stampin' Up!) and Chocolate Ink (by Ancient Page) over the wrinkles to create textured, rolling hills.
I sanded up some Core'dinations cardstock (a very green company, as can be seen in my Craft Critique article here) to create a frame for my little nature scene, as well as the Kelly's Tree and the ocean waves (created with Michelle's Scroll stamp). The Hot Air Balloon is also stamped onto sanded Core'dinations. I used Copics right onto the colored textured cardstocks to color the Let Your Dreams Soar sentiment and the tree bark - you can still see the waffle pattern through the color, which I like. The only non textured cardstock is the Cloud stamp, which I edged up with a bit of blue ink on a foam wedge after cutting out. All stamps are by Odd Bird Planet.
Now let's see your brown paper bagged work of art! Here's what you could win:
* Challenge Winners Will Receive a Limited Edition Wood Mounted Al on Earth Stamp *or* an Earth Stamp
Each of the blog challenge participants (including challenge winners)
will be entered into a Grand Prize drawing:
o One winner will receive
$100 in Odd Bird Planet stamps
o One winner will receive $50 in Odd Bird
Planet stamps
o Five winners will receive a 25% discount coupon when they
place a Odd Bird Planet order
To Enter the Brown Paper Bag Challenge:
1. Create a NEW card or other project that uses brown paper bags. While we would love you to showcase your Odd Bird Planet stamps, this is not a requirement. If you do not have any, that's okay! Play anyway!
2. Upload a photo of your work to your blog. If you do not have a blog you can upload your card to the new Odd Bird Planet Forum located at PaperCraftPlanet. For extra fun, upload to both :)
3. Post a link to your card on THIS post on my blog. For the other challenges, you will need to post on the appropriate DT member's blog. This is important, as winners will be chosen from DT blog posts.
4. Spread the word about the Earth Day Extravaganza! Okay this is not a requirement, but it would be awfully nice of you.
You have only 24 hours after the last challenge is posted to finish
and post a link to your card on my blog (this post); the challenge ends at midnight on Thursday, April 23rd PDT (please note my blog's time stamp is set to Newfoundland Standard Time).
A challenge winner
will randomly be selected from posts on my blog who have successfully completed
the challenge; all challenge participants will be entered into the
Grand Prize drawings.
You may enter each challenge as many
times as you wish, but each entry must be a new card and new post made
for each challenge alone. Please do not combine challenges.
I will post the winner here on Friday the 24th. Winners need to provide
name, email address and phone to have their goodies shipped (all this
info is required by the shipping company).
I am online watching this post from 6:00am PST - 10:30 PDT - if you have any questions, or just want to chat, go ahead and post here too! I will respond with an answer back in the post. I will also be hanging out at the OBP Forum. Let's have some fun!

I will leave you with a couple of photos taken yesterday as we scouted out a cottage for our Stampin' Up! Demonstrator Retreat in May. So beautiful. Here is a view from the cottage, which is located in the Irish Loop. The local accent is extra Irish here, I could barely keep up lol.
This is a view from the porthole window inside the chalet.
Here is the first iceberg (well, the first seen by me) of the season. It takes about 3 years for these guys to break off from Greenland and float here. Each April they begin to arrive, get trapped in our harbors, and slowly melt. What is amazing is that it is 90% BIGGER underneath the water. Yep, that is just the tip of the iceberg. It was really massive, my photo was taken several miles away.
What do Newfoundlanders do with icebergs? Why, make Vodka! And water...two big industries here.
Thanks for stoppin' by! Good luck, and good inkin'!
