This card was created using Julee at Poetic Artistry's Monday Mojo Week 10 Sketch. I didn't think I would be able to participate as I didn't have a circle cutting system that would fit the sketch but then my Fiskar's Shape Cutting System came to the rescue.
Hand Stitching Mini Tutorial: I hand stitched the Crafty Secrets Homespun Cotton Scraps onto Stampin' Up! Chocolate Chip cardstock by first adhering the fabric to cardstock with ZipDry glue (any glue will do). The Cotton Scraps come adhered to paper so they are very easy to cut. You simple peel the fabric off the paper for sewing.
I used a paper piercer and the Stampin' Up! Mat Pack's paper piercing template which allows for evenly spaced holes and proper centering on the fabric. Stitching is really easy after that - knot one end of some embroidery floss (I wanted a white thick thread and Wal-Mart has little bits of floss on cards for .25 cents) and follow the holes with the thread using a thick needle. In this case I used a candle wicking needle which is as thick as my paper piercing tool. When you are done, just tie the ends of the thread together and tape them down for good measure. Hand stitching also looks great on plain cardstock - look for a card made that way soon.
Today we had the season's first snow fall. It was a wet, slushy snow but it still felt good - to me at least. I called Allan to the window excitedly. He gave me a funny look and said "what are you, nuts? Canadians don't look forward to snow." Hmph.
We later went to the mall and bought me a pink paisley flannel nightgown to keep me warm. Allan said it looked like something out of Little House on the Prairie so it was fitting I sat on the couch and hand stitched today :)
I have one final note and it is big news for me: Barb is allowing me to post a sneak peek at who is on her future Design Team at Embellish-Online. Me! I am so blessed and fortunate I can't believe it. She is still taking applications until November 15th so if you ever wanted to be on a Design team now is the time to apply! See my post here for details.
Be sure to enter my first Giveaway to win a BasicGrey Winterland stamp set if you have not yet done so!
