Hey Chick & Girlfriend Card Winner

Hi and hello :)
Today's card is another Easter stamp that has been repurposed into a girlfriend card. I used Magnolia Stamps Easter Tilda, Chicks and Sign With Words to create this little scene card. I just love the sweet little chicks everywhere and can see the sign and chick stamps also used for a personalized  baby card.

Tilda and the chicks were colored with the Copic markers you see above.

I added Liquid Pearls to Tilda's dress (I have been asked who Tilda is - that is the little girl's name) and Stickles to the feathers and flowers that are around her.

The wood grain patterned paper is by Pink Paislee and has been  die cut with a Big Shot Top Note Die from Stampin' Up!

I used my Around the Block Label Maker and some pink tape to create the Hey Chick sentiment.

The beautiful ribbon rose was a treat from Diana that came with my Magnolia stamps.

Sweet Baby

Hello everyone and happy Monday! I hope the day finds you well and full of mojo! I have been sufferin' from a lack thereof a bit. I finally tossed my hands in the air and decided to keep today's card sweet and simple - very apropos as today's challenge over at the House Mouse & Friends Challenge Blog is to make a card with something sweet, be it literally or figuratively.

I colored this sweet Happy Hoppers Love Bunny image (note the clever use of the word sweet ah I entertain myself) with the Copics you see above, then mounted it on Pink Paislee Pleasant and Wonderful patterned paper from the new Enchanting collection that I got from Embellish-Online.  There is a very soft halo of blue Copic marker around the bunnies, whick looks so pretty in real life, but is hidden from the camera.  The shape of the card is thanks to the largest scallop Nestabilities (score Chocolate Chip Textured Cardstock then cut with the die cut, making sure the top of the circle doesn't cut all the way through).

The new pink Prima Dandies flowers go so well with this collection - it is the perfect warm pink with brown center.  I added a tiny bit of scruffed up Stampin' Up! Taffeta Ribbon attached to the Cuttlebug Tag. The sweet baby sentiment is a Making Memories Animal Crackers Pebble Sticker.

Hootie...

Two posts in one day...on a kaiser babee! So...is anyone a fan of show Top Chef? I wanted Karla to win - just loved her kind soul, and her food was simple yet innovative.  What does this have to do with today's card? Well she had a way of finding her hubby in a store - one of them would yell hootie? and the other would respond hoo! You just can't bottle that kind of cuteness ~ so fresh! Which brings me to today's card which uses Stampavie Stamps / Rachelle Anne Miller's Hoo Hoo There! I can just see these two little owls calling each other - Hootie? Hoo!

The little owl image was colored with the Copic markers you see above, and die cut with Nestabilties Mega Rectangles. The patterned papers are new Pink Paislee from the Fetching Collection.

I love the Confident laser cut paper and wanted it to figure prominently in the layout of the card. A lot of people avoid laser cut papers for cards, but it is possible - they are not just for scrapbookers. The distressed floral paper is called Engaging. The dotted paper is from the Captivating Collection (also Pink Paislee).

To finish off the card I looped Stampin' Up! So Saffron Ribbon at the ends and added Button Latte buttons. The Wow! chipboard button is by Chatterbox.

Spring is Just Ahead...

Hi everyone!
Thank you and bless you for all your warm words and prayers regarding Allan. The doctors are still working to find a cause for just what is going on with him, but he is HOME from the hospital and happily driving me nuts :) He heads back to work on  Monday and sees a kidney specialist on Tuesday.

I am slowly trying to catch up on all my Design Team work. I feel terrible for falling so far behind. Today's card for Magnolia-Licious, created for February's Sketch Challenge by our fabulous DT Member Cheryl Rowley, was a joy to make. Yep, the March Sketch Challenge is just out so look for my card created with that to be posted very soon. If you fell behind like I did, that's okay! Please play along for February AND March!

Creating really allows us to take our mind off worry, doesn't it? Nothing brings me more joy than coloring in one form or another, so I got my Copics out and worked with my favorite Magnolia Stamps image, Cherry Tilda, available in the Magnolia Store. I know how you all love to see the colors used and I am sorry to admit I forgot to take a photo but I promise to get better about that.

I added Stickles to her dress and hair bows, as well as Ranger Glossy Accents to her rain boots. She is propped up on some fabulous Webster's Pom Pom Trim; I like how her little boots hang right off the card.

The paper used is Pink Paislee's Adorable and Delightul from the brand new collection Enchanting. I ordered it for the EI Store and it just arrived!  I cut out one of the paper's butterflies to add a 3D effect to the Stampin' Up! sentiment. I hope this card brightens your day as it has mine! It's Summer Somewhere Challenge... and One Silly Man

As I look out my window and see the frost I can only dream of summer. January has brought us very strong winds, tons of snow, then freezing rain. This is my first winter in Newfoundland and I can honestly say I have never experienced anything like it. With that in mind, I thought it would be fun to do a summer or tropical themed card for the Friday Challenge over at Embellish-Online- anything warm and happy! After the card details I will show you what Allan did to deal with winter. *cue the music and deep voiced serious guy* CAUGHT ON TAPE!

For my card I used the new Pink Paislee Sweet Cakes collection, available in the EI store right now. I have serious love for this collection.  No stamping on this card, it is all trimming and shapes. 

I trimmed the green Lovey Dovey paper by hand for grass, punched a few butterflies with a Martha Stewart punch, and used Nestabilities to create a sun with the yellow Honey Bunch paper and flowers from Sweet Nothings and Cupcake Cutie, all on a base of Cutie Pie (orange with blue polka dots).

I sponged a bit of Distress Ink in Worn Lipstickhere and there too. The letters are chipboard. So happy and warm - just like I will be on the 22nd when I head to California.

Allan has invented the next great Olympic sport - snow diving. I think he forgot he was an old man not 14. Here are a couple of quick videos. Allan now walks with one elbow in the air to deal with his shoulder pain. He looks like he is always raising his hand in class. I tried - he won't let me post that one.

Keep an eye on Freeway too in this one. He is such a character - he thinks he is human and loves to stand all the time. When I put him in my lap he leans back and sits up like a baby. Ignore my annoying giggle again! Ugh - never knew I did that.

A Wild, Romantic Card & A Sweet Sale

 

Hi everyone! Today's card was created for the Sweet 'n Sassy monthly Design Team Round Up. No we do not have chaps on. Each month the Design Team all contribute a project to the Sweet 'n Sassy Blog. For my contribution I used the new Floral Flourishes stamp set. I was instantly drawn to the rustic charm of this set.  I tried to capture that same wild, romantic spirit in the design of this card. 

I arranged the largest flower stamp onto a branch of the flourish multiple times and embossed the images with Verdigris Embossing powder, which contains shades of green, bronze and brown pigments, and adds a vintage and textured look. It is that beautiful rusty blue-green of metal oxidized by the ocean's saltwater.

 

Next I sponged the patterned paper edges with Distress Inks in Worn Lipstick and Vintage Photo (both available in the S'nS store). Hot pink and very shiny chipboard letters, a bit of cotton lace trim and K& Co. Self-Adhesive Pearls (also available in the store) adds a feminine touch.

Hi Sweet Cakes! & Deal of the Day

 

The January Design Team Gallery at Embellish-Online is open! This month we are working with Pink Paislee's new collection Sweet Cakes. The rub-ons, ribbon and stamps are really adorable! If you love fun colors and cupcakes this will be your go to paper for a while!

For today's card I didn't even do any stamping for a change. This is more of a scrappy card.  

I cut out a Sweet Cakes Postcard (the name is misleading - they are the size of journaling cards and text weight) and put it on top of Cupcake Sweetie patterned paper. I covered the cherry with a little felt heart.

The base of the card is Stampin' Up!'s Baja Breeze on a Real Red and White cardstock mat. Baja Breeze is a great match for the blue in the patterned paper. The Hi sentiment is patent shine, glittered chipboard. The pom pom trim is by May Arts. A very happy card for a sweet friend :)
