Hi and hello :)
Today's card is from another of Julee's sketches for her stamp company Verve Visual. Such a challenging sketch required a really bold stamp so I broke out Stampin' Up!'s Fabulous Flowers, which is about the boldest stamp that I own. The sentiment is from the first Verve Visual stamp set made that is now part of Thoughtful Florals.
I mixed up two previous methods I wrote tutorials on to create this flower. The texture is a variation on the Sparkling Cracked Glass tutorial. I stamped the whole flower in the lightest color ink, then added a medium rose toward the outer ends, and finally the deepest color on the edges. Next I mixed Ranger Embossing Tinsel in Turquoise with the UTEE so that a bit of ultrafine glitter could be seen here and there.
I only added one layer of UTEE (Ultra Thick Embossing Enamel) because I wanted the bumpy texture of the enamel more than a good "cracked" effect, which appears after 3 layers. I did crack the flower a bit.
The other tutorial I used was my Dare To Be Fabulous Flower Cutting Technique from last November. This involves stamping the flower three times, then cutting pieces of it and layering it so create height and a burst of petals.
The top middle flower was just embossed with Tinsel, and a Making Memories velvet brad was added.
Final touches included paper piercing and adding a few Swarovski crystals.
I am dancing in my chair right now - yesterday's Kooky Little Bird card was one of two winners of the Mojo Madness Challenge over at Poetic Artistry. I have been turned down for a couple of design teams lately and it has really dinged my confidence in myself. I almost didn't enter or post the card because I thought it was too weird. I think this is part of what led to my creative dry spell. Lesson learned: always try.
Today is bright and sunny and the snow that remains is just blinding. So odd to go out with sunglasses on to protect yourself from the snow lol.
Thanks for stopping by! See you tomorrow.
